Training workshop for health workers in endemic foci in diagnostic techniques and the fight against human African trypanosomiasis (HAT-TDL)
The workshop initiated by TDL-THA OCEAC is a program that aims to contribute to capacity building of health personnel of the Central African endemic foci.
This training, which lasts two weeks has 50% of theoretical and 50% practical lessons in the laboratory and in the field.
The design and implementation of the program are provided by the Sub Regional Programme against human African trypanosomiasis OCEAC, in collaboration with international experts from specialized institutions and universities in the subregion.
This training aims to strengthen the capacity of health personnel in the diagnosis, treatment, therapeutic monitoring of patients and trypanosomiasis vector control against tsetse flies.
This program also aims to provide effective support to the National Control Programs against HAT (PNLTHA) during surveys of the disease in their health areas and gradually establish a sentinel disease surveillance across the subregion.
The workshop is open to nurses and technicians station in health centers of human African trypanosomiasis foci (THA).

The selection of candidates is done with the support of the ministries of health of the CEMAC member states, including Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The selection of candidates is made on a file review by a selection committee. Two to three students will be selected by member countries of central Africa. The number of participants is limited to 20. Learners benefit from the scholarship OCEAC will be exempt from payment of registration fees and educational expenses amounting to 560,000 CFA francs. This scholarship can cover among others the costs of accommodation and catering.
Participants taking part in the training are subject to a pre-test and post-test to measure the level of knowledge acquired by them. The course is recognized by the issuance of a certificate of participation to any participant who has demonstrated satisfactory performance during the workshop.
